Floss Dance vs Flossing... what's not to like?

Oh how all the children loved the Floss Dance! Backwards, forwards, side to side – and EVERYBODY was doing it.  If only we could make flossing teeth as engaging!

Well… Say hello to the Brush-Baby Flossbrush bristles toothbrush! This design of baby toothbrush incorporates longer bi-bristles which are able to get in between teeth and remove any debris! Because they come in different age appropriate designs, they make a great first toothbrush, kids toothbrush, or even the best toothbrush for braces!

Many children have the dexterity to do the floss dance but funnily enough when it comes to flossing their teeth they just can’t seem to get the hang of it? We wonder why?

Well if truth be told, poor ‘ol flossing gets a hard time of it.  People complain ‘it’s fiddly’, ‘my teeth are too close together’, ‘I can’t get the tape in between my teeth’, ‘it hurts’ and the age old excuse ‘there’s not enough time to do it.’ C’mon people get with the programme!

Ok – sermon over – we’re not here to preach, it really isn’t that hard to be healthy -  let’s show you how we can help.  And yes we’re talking about little ones too. Even if you’ve only got one tooth in your head - you need to floss!

Why floss?

Toothbrushing gets top billing every time, and yet toothbrushing only manages to clean 65% of the  tooth’s surface.  It’s a bit like surface cleaning. We all do it – a quick wipe of the table or sink when we’re in a hurry, but we know that at some stage, we’re going to have to put a bit more elbow grease into the situation and make sure that it is cleaned PROPERLY.

So what about the other 35%?

Mmm – well that’s just it. If not removed, food debris and bacteria left behind can form plaque. , And it’s not a fleck of parsley or a poppy seed stuck in your teeth, evidence for all  the world to see, oh no, it lurks in crevices, nooks  and crannies waiting for streptococcus mutans (that’s bacteria to you and me) to help it form decay.

Fact:

Plaque contains over 300 different species of bacteria that feeds on leftover food or sugar in your mouth. When that happens, it releases an acid that can eat away at the outer shell of your teeth and cause cavities.

... so that’s the bad news, the good news is that flossing can find them!

So we’ve heard the reasons why, and the excuses as to why not, so how can flossing be made easier?

Brush-Baby Kids flossing bristles toothbrush!

This means that they have bi-level bristles

  • Short ones clean the tooth’s surface
  • L-o-n-g ones reach in between teeth

But my baby has only just got its first milk tooth - surely I don’t floss just this one tooth?

Yes, and even if you have one milk tooth as many babies starting out on their dental journey have, then this too must be flossed!  Start as you mean to go on. The earlier you start the easier it is.

Parents are always worried about toothbrushing, many express a fear of ‘hurting’ their child and yet the instagram posts and pics that regularly get posted by parents using our products always show children who are so keen to use them. They like the size, type and sensation of the baby-friendly products in their mouths, which makes it so much easier for a parent to adopt an oral care routine.

Fact:

The enamel of the tooth is the hardest substance in the body but, without toothbrushing and flossing, the tiniest of bacteria can destroy it

How?

  • The bi-level bristles toothbrush can reach in between teeth, that a ‘traditional’ toothbrush can’t reach.
  • The Soft bristles toothbrush is gentle on gums, cleaning them gently and effectively
  • Easy-grip handles gives parent the ability to manoeuvre the brush easily within child’s mouth
  • Small-size brush-head ideal for baby/small mouths.
  • Visual toothpaste indicator on brush-head ensuring correct amount of toothpaste is used.

Why ?

  • Cleaning in between may help prevent gum disease
  • Effective plaque removal
  • Keeps the mouth healthy

When?

Flossing your teeth means a lessened chance of developing tooth decay and other oral-related problems, stronger and healthier gums and even better breath!

P.S. Many adults use our FlossBrushes too as they find them easier to use!
