Step 2: brushing and teething
     (10 months – 3 years)

What’s happening?

At this stage little mouths are busy places! Babies and toddlers have gums to keep clean, are likely to be teething and will have baby teeth to keep clean.

What do I need to do?

  • Brush baby teeth from when the first tooth appears this removes plaque, the sticky film on teeth and the bacteria that cause tooth decay.
  • Babies and toddlers cannot brush their own teeth effectively – you’ll have to do it for them! Brush-Baby recommends that mums use a baby toothbrush while babies and toddlers use the Brush-Baby Chewable Toothbrush at brushing time and during the day.
  • Make sure their toothpaste is suitable for their age, this means it will have the correct amount of fluoride. Use a Xylitol toothpaste.

What can I use?

The Brush-Baby Chewable Toothbrush is designed for babies and toddlers to use as a toothbrush and teether.

  • Designed to fit little mouths correctly.
  • Helps to clean teeth and gums.
  • Massages gums.
  • Soothes teething gums.
  • Use with or without toothpaste.
  • May be cooled in the fridge to help soothe teething gums.
  • Dishwasher and steam sterilizer safe ( to 180°)

Brush-Baby Baby & Toddler Toothpaste contains both Xylitol and lower fluoride:

  • Xylitol prevents bacteria from producing the acid that rots teeth
  • Xylitol helps reduce the number of decay-causing bacteria
  • Fluoride strengthens the tooth’s enamel (we use lower fluoride because many babies and toddlers swallow or eat their toothpaste).
  • Low foaming – ideal for babies
  • SLS free
  • Gentle Applemint flavour helps babies enjoy their first experience of tooth-brushing
